Covering Eastern Australia, this well laid out new edition by Gwen Harden, Bill McDonald and John Williams has an additional 309 descriptions and illustrations, including some previously unnamed species, in areas from Victoria to Rockhampton. English Elm
(Ulmus procera)
Victoria has some of the finest examples of English Elm (Ulmus procera) in the world providing a historical link with Europe. People love this species and will mourn the loss of these aging specimens as they enter decline spirals. So that the famous Elms of Melbourne don’t disappear it is vital that this tree is proactively kept at the forefront of people’s minds when making decisions about appropriate species selection for replacement plantings.

It’s challenging times for trees and arborists. With a raft of problems such as reduction in growing spaces, increases in hard surfaces, drought, and associated costs to manage these issues, the community looks to arborists to retain ageing trees for as long as possible in a safe and aesthetically pleasing condition. Bruce Callander consulting arborist with Tree Logic outlines the issues and some of the latest practices.

Tree Logics’ free tree planting program now has a new name and a new partner. Mt William Tree Nursery has come on board as part of “Trees for Kids” a tree planting program to support worthy community based organisations during Arbor Week. Schools, Kindergartens and community based organisations looking for some tree enhancement can apply to receive this great prize of a customised tree planting plan from Tree Logic with trees from Mt William Advanced Tree Nursery. Tree Logic staff even turns up and plant the trees for you. To apply contact Tree Logic directly or complete this online form.
Winner will be announced in May.

To arborists it is an important work tool. To the Victorian police it’s a weapon. Thats right under Victorian legislation any daylight lasers stronger than 1mW became a ‘Prohibited Weapon’ and that comes with stiff penalties. That’s the bad news. The good news is that you can apply for a permit to continue your ‘lawful’ use of these lasers. Even better, Tree Logic has put together an information sheet on what you need to do.
